Service List

The National Incident Feature Service (NIFS) and supplemental services are hosted by ArcGIS Online (AGOL) and are available to wildland fire cooperators with a NIFC AGOL account.

These services are available as Incident Services, to be used during active incidents only, and as Training Services for mobile and desktop training for users. The Incident and Training services have the same schema and symbology and will appear identical to end users. Care should be taken to ensure the correct services and templates are used.

The appropriate services have been added to preconfigured web map templates which are available in the Incident Resources and Training Resources groups (NIFC AGOL account required). Users should begin with these templates and modify them to suite specific needs rather than starting with the services.

2024 National Incident Feature Services Views

The NIFS is a working data set and represents current operational data only. It is not intended for data storage and is cleared of features annually.
The NIFS consists of many Hosted Views off the same parent data. A Hosted view is a separate service that uses the same underlying data allowing for different settings, permissions, and access on each.

The Mobile and Repair Views and Web Map Templates are now filtered by default to remove features with FeatureStatus ‘Archive’ and DeleteThis ‘Yes’.

Each of these service Views present the same underlying data with different editing permissions, capabilities, or symbology.

GISS Edit

Configured for use in ArcGIS Pro and restricted to qualified GISS and approved trainees. This service should not be used in web maps.

Mobile Edit

Configured for use in field data collection using mobile apps and accessible to anyone with a NIFC Org account. Delete is disabled on this service.

Repair Status

Symbolized based on the RepairStatus attribute for suppression repair tracking and accessible to anyone with a NIFC Org account. This service must be used in conjunction with another NIFS service that shows the standard Event Point and Event Line symbols.

Strategic Operations

Symbolized based on the StrategicLineType attribute for identifying Event Line features that are considered Primary, Secondary, or Proposed strategic lines and accessible to anyone with a NIFC Org account. This service must be used in conjunction with another NIFS service that shows the standard Event Line symbols.

Internal View

View-only layer accessible to anyone with a NIFC Org account. All features and attributes are exposed. Sync is not enabled for this service so it is best used for web maps, dashboards, and StoryMaps that will not be shared with the public.

Mobile View

View-only layer accessible to anyone with a NIFC Org account. This view has Sync enabled so it should be used as a reference layer in mobile apps for users who do not need to edit.

IRIN Edit

Configured for use in ArcGIS Pro and restricted to Infrared Interpreters (IRIN) with the NIFC IRIN role in the NIFC Org.

2024 Structure Triage Services

A complementary service to the NIFS, Structure Triage is a national data set of rapid assessments available to all NIFS Org users. This data is cumulative and not cleared annually.

Structure Triage GISS Edit

Configured for use in ArcGIS Pro and restricted to qualified GISS and approved trainees. This service should not be used in web maps.
